Ladies and Gentlemen, the wait is over. The hectic final voting spell spread over a week that also saw a repoll for the Best Designed Indiblog category -- an unprecedented event in the history of the Indibloggies -- is finally over and we are all set to declare the results. The public poll, thanks to the sophisticated poll script that we used this year, demanded that you unearthed all those email IDs that you created but never used, including those "2 minute" mailinator ones. And those who only had that lone yahoo ID since years were also delighted to get the additional Yahoo ID. It was, all in all, a peaceful poll with no untoward incidents. A record 1278 people registered for the poll but only 892 actually cast their vote, by virtue of those "a@b.com" email ID that were used to register and those cookies resting on your machine, I am happy that they could verify that the system was quite hard-wearing, the polls couldn't be sturdier than this, IMHO.
And since I don't want to irk you with anecdotes of innocent emails that ranged from "I just got the voting link. How do I nominate the sites?" to "Hey the link is not working" to "I never voted but got a mail saying thanks for voting" to "I won't vote", here are the results:
IndiBlog of the year [Tally]
India Uncut is the Best Indiblog at the Indibloggies 2005. Amit Varma, author of India Uncut and a Mumbai based journalist is a maverick of quick posts and anything that starts with a "C", cows and cricket for instance. He not only bagged 25% of the votes cast for the category but also has the distinction to bag 225 votes, the highest number of votes bagged by any blog/site in this competition (yes, we know that voting for this category was mandatory but we are talking statistics here) and emerged a clear winner. Such fun! Amit wins

Best Designed IndiBlog [Tally]
A walk in the clouds.. by Megha wins with 37% votes and strengthened my belief in the power of "collective wisdom". Yeh public hai, sab janti hai. This category witnessed some heated arguments on the scope of the award. The Jury was of a divided opinion, nominees rejected were unhappy and it was time we left the decision to the junta. This is the only category at the Indibloggies that had "all" the publicly nominated blogs competing for the award. The opinion that has clearly emerged out of the debate that followed it is that people do want that to come up to its name the category should only recognize original designs in future. Megha wins:
- An award Rs.500/- from Ganesh of Rupya.com.
- One Indibloggies T-Shirt sponsored by Sakshi Juneja.

over a week that also saw a repoll for the Best Designed Indiblog category — an unprecedented event in the history of the Indibloggies — is finally over"History"...what history do you go got dude! Its hardly an year. Its hilarious to see the "Life time achievement award" unless the nominees are worker Bees which has lifespan of one year.that you created but never used, including those "2 minute" mailinator ones. And those who only had that lone yahoo ID since years were also delighted to get the additional Yahoo ID.Quite funny ain't we. Where was all this humor when you made those idiotic explanations regarding best designed blogs where you decided to be a complete idiot than a half one. That was the most dementing logic one has ever used. Everyone knows this is your way of making yourself popular. But please atleast try hide the obvious by being little more smarter than this.

Congrats to all winners!! :)

[...] Todays’ hottest news is that the Indibloggies 2005 results have been declared. I kinda feel proud about it right now,for I had a great deal of fun participating in the jury process and discovering a great many of interesting new blogs through it. I must congratulate Debashish for the splendid show this year, and the beautiful concept that the Indibloggies Awards have come around to be, over the years. Yet another glorious Indian blogosphere tradition, to be cherished by one and all. [...]

[...] Uber-blogger Amit Varma’s India Uncut is Indiblog of the year. India Uncut came in numero uno by a wide margin, which doesn’t surprise anyone who knows a thing or two about the desi blogosphere (the Blogistan). If you haven’t read his blog yet, now’s a good time to start. And don’t just take our word for it. Vox populi… [...]
Congratulations to all the winners and the organisers sure have done a great job!
Congratulations to all winners out there. Also kudos to Indibloggies team for such a great event.
Hi!
Congratulations to all winners. I am sure the blogistan will join hands with me in appreciating the efforts of all those who instituted and have conducted these polls. Kudos to debashish (thats the only name I know of this team) & all those involved
All is well, when end's well. Congratulations to Debashish, for such an efforts. Great Job. Best wishes to all the Winners.
Congratulations to all the winners. A very well organized competition and great jury too. Cheers to everyone.
Further, it felt nice to be in the foray for the best photoblog. I have seen excellent photos through this competition and am more aware of the fellow photoblog brethren. Must say, I had a great time and lots of fun. Keep up the great work.

[...] As you all know, DesiPundit won awards in two categories at the Indibloggies. We are not claiming our prizes and instead offering them to our readers. The catch is, we are auctioning them off and will be donating all proceeds to Anuradha Bakshi’s ProjectWhy. The gifts are as follows: [...]
[...] Talking about Indian bloggers, the Indibloggies are out — the Indian weblog awards “showcasing excellence in the Indian blogosphere”, as the organisers say. Winners include old familiars, but, boy, oh boy, this is the first time I came across Sonia Faleirio and Mall Road. Working in Singapore, I have obviously not been keeping up with all the home news. Some of these bloggers are pretty stylish and opinionated as bloggers ought to be, if they have that freedom, that is. So many constraints can get in the way — one’s job, one’s future, the family, the society one lives in. But there are free spirits. Hats off to them, from this Anonymous Coward. [...]
[...] Saturday morning. I wake up to see that Shahid Afridi has blasted the Indian attack to smithereens. Younis Khan, another mediocre player whose career India has made, came as close to a double century as possible. As a result, we are now battling to save the Test. And I had lost the Indibloggies Indiblog of the year to Amit Varma (225 to 159 votes). [...]
