The Word is out
Ladies and Gentlemen, the wait is over. The hectic final voting spell spread over a week that also saw a repoll for the Best Designed Indiblog category -- an unprecedented event in the history of the Indibloggies -- is finally over and we are all set to declare the results. The public poll, thanks to the sophisticated poll script that we used this year, demanded that you unearthed all those email IDs that you created but never used, including those "2 minute" mailinator ones. And those who only had that lone yahoo ID since years were also delighted to get the additional Yahoo ID. It was, all in all, a peaceful poll with no untoward incidents. A record 1278 people registered for the poll but only 892 actually cast their vote, by virtue of those "a@b.com" email ID that were used to register and those cookies resting on your machine, I am happy that they could verify that the system was quite hard-wearing, the polls couldn't be sturdier than this, IMHO.
And since I don't want to irk you with anecdotes of innocent emails that ranged from "I just got the voting link. How do I nominate the sites?" to "Hey the link is not working" to "I never voted but got a mail saying thanks for voting" to "I won't vote", here are the results:

Indibloggies 2004 : And the winners are...
Innumerable contestants, close to 100 nominated blogs and 16 winners emerging in the grand finale to the Indibloggies 2004. This year’s event has been spectacular for Indibloggies with an unprecedented nine sponsors offering prizes worth above Rs.25000 and a panel of 12 Jurors who had the momentous task of frisking the list. I do not have enough words to show my appreciation for all those who participated in the event. The apprehensions on the award's credibility also prompted me to reveal my identity, I had resorted to the pseudonym Indiblogger when I started the affair because I thought an identity is always accompanied with prejudices, I am happy I was proven wrong.
So here is the much awaited final list of winners. My congratulations to all the winners. My thanks also to all those who voted and kept visiting these pages. Winners Must send me an email at indibloggies at gmail dot com with subject "Prize claim" so that I could forward their details to the sponsors.

And the winners are..
Fellow IndiBloggers! You did a great job and thank you for that. We hope that this effort kindled the spirit of Indian-ness in the IndiBlogosphere. Hopefully, this get-together brought us closer as a community. If this effort introduced you to even a single blog that you had never heard of before, if it prompted you to say, "ya man that blog is truly good, I must have it on my blogroll", we would deem this as worthwhile. What this years awards lacked was some slackness in nominations, many deserving blogs were perhaps left away, atleast for vernacular blogs we expected a lot more nominations, but hey this was just a beginning.
Here is to the IndiBlogosphere, hope all IndiBloggers would rise above the mediocre and strive towards excellence. Let Blogging make a difference to the world we live in.
